Wilpattu National Park
Explore Sri Lanka’s Oldest Wildlife Sanctuary
Discover a peaceful wilderness filled with leopards, elephants, birds, and natural lakes.
Introduction
Wilpattu National Park is the largest and oldest national park in Sri Lanka, located in the North Western Province. Known for its mysterious lakes, thick forests, and abundant wildlife, this park offers a quieter safari experience compared to the more crowded parks like Yala.
Wilpattu means “Land of Lakes” – and true to its name, it’s home to over 60 natural lakes or “villus,” which attract animals all year round. Whether you want to spot a leopard, enjoy birdwatching, or simply explore untouched nature, Wilpattu is a perfect destination.
